On Friday, The Father went to see our GP. He had a wart or mole or something on the back of his head which was really bothering him ( he found himself constantly rubbing it or scratching it or just in general fiddling about with it) and decided to have it removed.

GP first gave him an injection and then began to remove it. Apparently, these sorts of things have ‘roots’, so he was digging around for quite awhile until he had removed it all. It turned out to be a mass about the length of a cigarette butt and twice as thick.

GP has sent the ‘mass’ to be examined and has reassured The Father that there is nothing to worry about.

The Father is reassured.

I , however, am another story. I can’t help but recall an episode with GP which happened very shortly after The Girl’s birth. I was alone in the house one late afternoon when the doorbell rang. I opened it to find a very solemn faced GP. The Girl , GP told me, had failed a certain blood test. This meant she would slowly but inevitably become a cretin . According to GP there was no treatment for this, but there was another family around who had a child with a similar condition who would be willing to meet with me.

He meant well.

The results come back on Friday. I think it will be a long week.
