Picturesque
This morning, after tossing the puppies outside, swabbing the floors and dragging the cherubs downstairs, I poured myself a cup of coffee and sat down to read the morning paper.

Oh. There is a picture of our town. The Dagblad uses pictures of our town quite often, usually when the seasons are changing- you know, show all of the leaves on the Demer for Fall, a family of ducks crossing the cobblestones for Spring- you get the idea.
Let’s read the write-up :
Terrasjesweer en hevige hoosbuien, de contrasten in het weer in the eerste helft van maart zijn groot. En aan het einde van de week keert de vrieskou terug, als we onze nationale weermannen Erwin Kroll en Peter Timofeeff mogen geloven. Maar het cliche will ook niet voor niets dat maart zijn staart roert. Maar sommige wandelaars kan niets weerhouden om op pad te gaan, dat bewijst deze dame bij de vesting H.
A loose translation : What shit weather we are having. One day it’s sunny, the next day it’s pouring. Yadda-yadda-yadda. But nothing stops some hardy souls, such as this stoic woman, by the vesting H.
Wait. Let’s take a closer look :

So, what I became when I grew up : picturesque.
( By the way, that is just about where I was when I started bitching to myself about the city taxes that I pay)

LOL and they think you actually don’t mind walking there!
I hope the curry made up for your day (the footbal probably did not).
Sue! You’re famous!
And to think : you knew me ‘when..’.
Actually, there was a much more picturesque man that I passed shortly before this photo was taken : he had on a dramatic black coat and a large black umbrella, swaying around in the wind. Very ‘artsy’ looking.
And there am I, Meg’s umbrella and Han’s coat, scowling. Oh well, I had fun this morning :
sue : There is another picture of town in the paper.
Han: Oh.
( silence)
sue : recognize the coat ?
Football. Hmmm, next games should be very interesting, though-
haha, make sure to stick that one in the photo album
Does this count on your fifteen minutes of fame?
How splendid!
I fully intend to frame it and hang it in a place of honor.
Imagine, a large newspaper remarking upon my fortitude !
Catherine ! Poor you ! Poor Arsenal !
You do know, of course, that Roma will not beat the lads, don’t you ?
And so you should, you stoic you!
I know, and nor should they. Oh the cruel, well, cruelty if after drawing the last trillion games Arsenal can’t get a point against Valencia next week.
Oh Catherine, as much as Han would love it, I fear that I don’t have it in me to be a true fan.
As I read your note, I thought,’ oh, poor, wee, Arsenal’.
I shall ask Han what I am to wish for, to solve this moral dilemma.
Hope you are hanging in there. The wretch. Of all the places in the world, he had to go to….Lille.
Stoic is such a stodgy word isn’t it? How about adventurous or fearless or even colorful? No matter what the adjective, people all over the world are saying it…”Why doesn’t that poor woman drive a car?”
Oh, Karan, driving and licenses and all that aren’t quite as simple as doing a few rounds on Paw’s tractor here. The leasons cost a fortune ( read : let’s start at $2000), passing the test takes multiple tries, and I… I’m a bit nervous ( Har ! A bit !) in cars.
Cars make me nervous too…rather other drivers do that. Maybe you can get yourself a horse and covered buggy….then you would have a corner on the poop market for sure!
