For all of my exquisite thrashing about in the throws of martyrdom, progress is being made.
The ‘playroom’ before :
Today :
The door on the left is to the new bathroom, the door on the right is to my new handy dandy linen closet. Now I just have to find the time to stain and varnish everything. And yes, that is my picket fence that you see, you remember my picket fence, don’t you ?

Um… I don’t want to be pernickity or anything, but there seems to be quite a large gap between the bottom of the left hand door and the floor.
Assuming you’re having varnished floors, this can’t be a gap for carpet. Potential flood control perhaps?
What you are looking at is a little row of black tiles.
