The Concert, Part I

Posted by Mummy Dearest on Nov-12-2003

If a casual stranger, passing me by on the street one day, were to put a gun to my head and ask me to name my favorite song, 6 times out of 10 I would say that this was. The other 4 times, I would say that this was. Or perhaps the other way around.

Oddly enough, if that same casual stranger took that same gun and pointed it at The Father’s temple, he would give the exact same answer, in about the exact same ratio. This is odd, in that both songs remind me very much of a man that I spent a very long time with, thinking that we would end up together, rocking chairs on the veranda of some old folks home and telling our stories to each other. Not that that in itself is odd, it’s just that the songs remind The Father of him as well. And that is a wee tad odd. Or not.

  1. Karen Said,

that’s really quite obfuscious of you, Sue.

  2. sue Said,

    Uh, sorry.

And condolences to you and Nick.

  3. Karen Said,

    Thank you.
I have just downloaded both songs and am listening to them – naughtily – through headphones. They are giving me shivers.

  4. sue Said,

Karen, rather unsubtle, I know. Can you guess that I had a very long, long-distance romance ? In fact, he found joining a foreign army, fighting angry natives, less intimidating than being with me.

    Oh well.

  5. Catherine Said,

Sue, that stranger doesn’t sound very casual to me – you will be careful won’t you?

Sorry Old Croakey messed up your favourite song – hope he comes up with the goods next time.

  6. sue Said,

Catherine- I was shocked ( and, of course, felt rather guilty that I didn’t already have the news) to hear about Kevin. What a brave soldier indeed.

Hopefully, the computer will hold steady ( not very likely) and no one from, oh,say, Kuwait, will stop by for a month and so I can catch up with everybody once again.

I feel like a shit for neglecting you. Sorry. Very.

With Kevin and the food poisoning, it wasn’t one of those curries, was it ?
