Orange Boven ?

Posted by Mummy Dearest on Dec-10-2003

  1. kane Said,

Never had an orange boven, but it does look good.

  2. sue Said,

Sorry, Kane. Most of the people who come here are from the Netherlands and Belgium, so they ‘got it’. I suppose for anyone else it seems rather oblique.

The other day, the Crown Prince and his wife ( the ever so charming Maxima) had their first child. Irregardless of the sex, this baby is the next ‘ruler’ after the Crown Prince. And it was a girl, which pleased me fine, as I find the Netherlands the sort of place to have a Queen, not a King.

So, the Royal family here is from the House of Orange-Nassau. ‘Orange’- orange. So now there are tiny ( and- I must say- nasty looking) orange colored cakes to celebrate the birth of the wee, future monarch.

But, gee, the lighting in the bakery was bad. Everything came out rather orange…

  3. karen Said,

    they look delicious, though.

  4. sue Said,

Karen, I suppose that one is either a pastry person or not. I am not. And the thought of an orange one strikes me as twice as ikky.

I have literally just shopped until I have dropped. Off for a cup of coffee before I must re-enter motherhood ( ie: dump the dishwasher and pick the kids up from school).

By the way, I bought three of the most vulgar tree ornaments today. It made me think of you, for some reason. I do go a bit over-board, though, at Christmas.

But I might be redeemed by the fact that my cards are always late.

  5. Julie Said,

Sue … Im with you I dont like those “sweet” things when they are pink or orange… ickky…
and they say “americans” and their sweets ..
    ha ha…. NOT !….. Julie
