For all of the things that I do not do well, despite the fact that the dust in our home is stratified, that I do not bake cookies, that I ….. fill in the blank.

This evening I gave 9 people ( I suppose 10, if one includes me) a smashing good Christmas Eve. There is just no way around it. I can snivel and whine about what a worthless person I have become, but, hey, all of these people just gave me money and said, oh, arrange it all, and I did.

I bought all of the presents, wrapped them in glittering paper, under a tree that the children and I decorated- never make one of those glitzy mags, no way. There is the Grinch on the tree, that The Baby got one year from Burger King, something one of the kids made from an egg carton- you get the idea.

We had tons of food, enough, I thought, that tomorrow the leftovers would be our dinner. Wrong.

And passing out the gifts is an art. You know, first the socks, then something ok and then, the grand gift.

It just went all so stinkin’ well, everyone was so pleased and so happy.

You know, I don’t even know what I received- I know a few Sudoku books ( shoot me), all I know is that I did this well.

Perhaps many people see this as a piece of cake, but coming only a few days after Sinterklaas, I am simply patting myself on the back.
